The Thyroid Markers We Test

  • TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone): This is the hormone that tells your thyroid to produce T3 and T4. Elevated levels can indicate an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), while low levels can signal an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).
  • Free T4 and Free T3: These are the hormones directly produced by your thyroid. They are essential for regulating your metabolism. Measuring these helps us assess your thyroid’s ability to produce these crucial hormones.
  • Reverse T3: This is a form of T3 that your body can’t use. High levels can indicate a problem with how your body is processing thyroid hormones and can be due to high stress.
  • FT3:RT3 Ratio: This ratio helps us understand how well your body is converting T4 into T3. An imbalance could signify a conversion issue, a common problem in hypothyroidism.
  • Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) antibodies, Anti-Thyroglobulin (ATG) antibodies, and TSH Receptor antibodies: These antibodies can signal an autoimmune response against your thyroid, as seen in conditions like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or Graves’ disease.

How Our Thyroid Testing Works

  • Once paid, your test kit will be sent out to your home address.

  • Take the test kit to a collection centre and a nurse will follow the instructions to take a blood draw

  • Your blood samples are returned to the lab. When I receive the results, I share them with you and you book a consultation to discuss.
